Isn’t spring just fabulous?? The fresh new blooms, the smell of freshly cut grass, and a total refresh of your home life. Spring cleaning sounds like an absolute nightmare. BUT, in fact it doesn’t have to be and we all know once the job is done you feel like a million bucks!

We know you are busy and trying to do a gazillion other things so we have put together a few great tips and a cleaning checklist just for you.

1. Declutter.

Don’t overwhelm yourself, so take one room at a time and donate any unused items you haven’t used in the last 6 months or throw away anything that isn’t of value. This is also the time to make the winter/summer clothing switch. I like to use these bins to store my winter/summer clothes. I am able to see them clearly and they stack perfect. Here are a few questions to ask yourself when deciding to get rid of an item:

  • Do I love it?
  • Do I need it?
  • Do I want it?
  • Do I have room to store it?

2.  Top to Bottom.

Now that you have dejunked you are ready for the nitty gritty. Start with the highest points of your house and work your way down to the bottom. This includes:

  • washing walls
  • ceiling fans
  • light fixtures
  • top of cabinets
  • replacing light bulbs and air filters.

After you’ve accomplished the top zone of your house, move down to the middle zone. You will need to:

  • wash windows
  • dust furniture
  • wash curtains/shutters
  • dust pictures and wall art, etc.
  • deep clean bathroom (sinks, toilets, shower, counters, etc)
  • clean furniture (upholstery, leather)
  • change sheets on beds

Lastly, finish off with the bottom zone, which includes:

  • sweeping floors
  • cleaning baseboards
  • mop and vacuuming floors
  • shaking rugs

3. Go Deep

If you’d like to take it one step further and really get in those nooks and crannies, here are few more cleaning areas you can tackle:

  • deep clean fridge and freezer
  • organize pantry
  • organize kitchen cabinets
  • clean oven and stove top
  • declutter garage and wash floor
  • organize clothes and shoes in closet

There you have it! You can now enjoy your fresh, new home!
