It can be hard, reallll hard to find the motivation to get ready every day. Especially when the only places you go is school pick up/drop off, Target and the grocery store. You think to yourself, is it even worth the time? And I say YES with a capital Y!
There have been MANY days where I have been too tired, too busy, and just plain didn’t want to get ready. And in some cases getting ready isn’t a priority that day, but 9 times out of 10 I would MAKE it a priority! When I don’t get myself looking decent for the day, that’s when I’m the least productive, I eat more, and all I want to do is watch TV.
My mom got ready EVERY SINGLE DAY that I can remember growing up (and she still does). I love that about her. Get up, get dressed, look presentable and get shiz done! You can’t deny that when you get ready you feel like you can conquer the world! It’s amazing what a little mascara and lipstick will do.
And I don’t think you need to look like you stepped out of a magazine every day! Heavens no! Just feel good about yourself when you look in the mirror. That’s all that matters!
So here’s a few ways that help me get ready with 3 crazy kids!
1. Wake up before your Children
This one can be tough. I am NOT a morning person, but my day always seems to run a little more smoothly when I get up and get going. I like to hop in the shower first thing before the kids get up so I can enjoy it without little ones in there with me. I also like to because I can let my hair air dry (if I’m washing it that day) while I get breakfast going, kids dressed and off to school.
2. Get Everyone Dressed at the Same Time
Londyn goes to school at 8:50, so that gives me plenty of time to get all 4 of us ready for the day. Right after I drop off Londyn, I can head to Target, the grocery store or wherever without feeling hideous. I can start off my day knowing that I look decent and I won’t have to worry running into someone I know looking like a zombie.
3. Do Everything the Night Before
Bathe, pack lunches, set out clothes, and CLEAN YOUR HOUSE the night before. This will SAVE YOUR LIFE! Jon usually bathes the kids while I’m downstairs starting the dishwasher, picking up the house, doing a load of laundry and vacuuming! I’m obsessed with waking up and walking downstairs to vacuum lines in my carpet! I despise leaving the house when it’s not picked up, so this makes a world of difference when I need to rush out the door the next morning.
4. Buy Cute, Casual & Comfy Clothes You Will Actually Wear
When buying clothes for yourself, choose ones that you know you will wear that are comfy and cute! It just makes getting ready less stressful and you will feel good about yourself! I love wearing cute baseball hats, a great pair of black leggings, my favorite jeans, a plethora of nice basic tops (love this one,) sweatshirts, and a trendy pair of sneakers. (love and love)
5. Dry Shampoo & Fake Eyelashes
I know everyone can’t justify fake lashes in their budget and/or time schedule, but if you can they are worth it. It takes me 5 minutes to put my make up on every day. I just do foundation, bronzer and lipstick and I’m good to go. It’s so nice because you look great even when you wake up! Also, dry shampoo is heaven sent. I always put mine on at night because I’ve realized that I can go longer without washing my hair that way. When you don’t have to wash your hair, it cuts getting ready time in half! Woohoo! I use both these brands and they work awesome! (here and here)
6. Make it a Priority
Like I’ve said time and time again, if mama ain’t happy no one is! And a big part of being happy is feeling good about how you look. Make it a priority to carve out an extra 30 minutes of your day for YOU! You deserve to feel good and look good!
So get up, get dressed and get shiz done! You will NEVER regret getting ready!
